Death's Omen MUD

Important: Death's Omen is an 18+ game. By playing, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. Violation of these rules may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent ban from the game.

1. Age Requirement

• All players must be 18 years of age or older to play Death's Omen.
• By creating an account and playing, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
• Providing false information about your age will result in immediate and permanent ban.

2. Roleplay Expectations

• Stay In Character (IC): Your character's actions, speech, and decisions should reflect their personality, background, and the game world. Maintain character consistency.
• Out-of-Character (OOC) in Game: OOC discussion is allowed in the game under strict circumstances - assisting new players, getting consent for ERP, when there are engine issues and bugs, and when talking to staff.
• Respect the Setting: Your character should fit within the world of Athera. Anachronistic knowledge, modern references, or breaking the fantasy setting is not permitted.
• Quality Roleplay: Write clear, descriptive actions and dialogue. Poor grammar, excessive abbreviations, or lazy roleplay may result in warnings.
• Character Death (Permadeath): Death in Death's Omen can be permanent unless there is divine intervention or a code fault. Play accordingly. If you die to a bug, please report it to staff immediately.

3. Adult Content and Mature Themes

Death's Omen allows mature themes and adult content, but all participants must consent and have the option to "fade to black."

• Consent Required: Before engaging in any adult-themed roleplay (romantic, sexual, or otherwise mature content), you must obtain explicit OOC consent from all involved players via the OOC command.
• Fade to Black: Any player has the right to request a "fade to black" at any time during adult-themed scenes. This means the scene should transition to a summary or conclusion without explicit detail. This request must be respected immediately.
• Private Settings: Adult-themed roleplay should take place in private locations when possible, not in public areas. General affection is allowed in public places without requiring consent.

4. Prohibited Content - Zero Tolerance

The following content is absolutely prohibited and will result in immediate and permanent ban:

• Rape: Rape is NEVER permitted to be roleplayed, under ANY circumstances. Rape in background stories is allowed, but not during roleplay. Violation of this rule results in immediate permanent ban and may be reported to authorities.
• Non-Consensual Content: Any roleplay involving non-consensual sexual activity, regardless of context or "fade to black" requests, is prohibited.
• Underage Characters in Adult Situations: Characters under 16 (or 18 depending on the laws within your own country) cannot be involved in adult-themed roleplay, even with fade to black.
• Real-World Hate Speech: Hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory content targeting real-world groups, religions, or identities is prohibited. In-character hate towards fictional characters, races, religions, etc. is allowed.

5. Harassment and Respect

• Respect All Players: Treat all players with respect, both in-character and out-of-character. Harassment, bullying, or targeted abuse will not be tolerated.
• No OOC Harassment: Do not use OOC knowledge to harass, target, or disadvantage other players. Keep OOC and IC separate.
• Respect Boundaries: If a player asks you to stop a consent required type of roleplay or interaction, respect their request immediately.
• Report Issues: If you experience harassment or witness rule violations, report it to staff immediately via Discord, email, or in-game petition.

6. Combat and PvP (Player vs. Player)

• Consensual PvP: Player-versus-player combat should generally be consensual or have clear IC justification. Random killing or griefing is not permitted.
• No Revenge Killing: Do not repeatedly target the same player's characters out of OOC animosity. This is considered harassment.
• Combat Roleplay: Combat should be roleplayed with descriptive actions. Powergaming, metagaming, or exploiting game mechanics is prohibited.
• Death Consequences: Remember that death can be permanent. Engage in combat understanding the risks.

7. Metagaming and Powergaming

• No Metagaming: Do not use out-of-character knowledge that your character would not have. This includes information from Discord, forums, or other characters your character hasn't met.
• No Powergaming: Do not force actions on other players' characters without their consent. You cannot control another player's character or force outcomes.
• No Godmoding: Your character has limitations. Do not roleplay invincibility, perfect abilities, or impossible actions.
• Realistic Actions: All actions should be physically possible and consistent with the game world's rules and your character's abilities.

8. Character Creation and Development

• Appropriate Characters: Create characters that fit the world of Athera. Characters should be believable within the game's setting and lore.
• No Alts for Advantage: Do not use alternate characters to gain unfair advantages, spy on other players, or circumvent restrictions.
• Character Consistency: Maintain consistency in your character's personality, background, and abilities. Sudden, unexplained changes may result in warnings.
• Backstory Requirements: Ensure your character's backstory aligns with the game world's history, geography, and established lore.
• Meaningful Character Endings: Characters should not be deliberately killed off or retired without good reason. Using suicide or frequent character retirement will result in reduced staff attention for future character approvals and may delay review of new applications.

9. Communication and Channels

• Appropriate Language: While the game is 18+ and allows mature language, excessive profanity, spam, or disruptive communication is not permitted. Profanity against staff is not permitted.
• Channel Usage: Use appropriate channels for their intended purpose. Keep OOC discussion out of IC channels.
• No Spam: Do not spam commands, messages, or actions. This disrupts gameplay for others.
• Respect Staff: Staff decisions are final. Arguing with staff publicly, harassing staff, or refusing to comply with staff instructions will result in disciplinary action.

10. Exploits and Cheating

• No Exploits: Do not exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended game mechanics. Report bugs to staff instead.
• No Scripting/Botting: Automated scripts, bots, or programs that play the game for you are prohibited.
• No Multi-Playing: Do not play multiple accounts and characters simultaneously.
• Account Security: You are responsible for your account. Sharing accounts or allowing others to play on your account is prohibited.

11. Reporting and Enforcement

• Report Violations: If you witness rule violations, report them to staff via Ticket, or email (support@deathsomen.com), or in-game petition system.
• Staff Discretion: Staff reserve the right to interpret and enforce these rules as they see fit to maintain a healthy game environment.
• Consequences: Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity and frequency.
• Appeals: If you believe you have been unfairly disciplined, you may appeal to staff via ticket or email. Appeals will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

12. General Conduct

• Have Fun: Death's Omen is a game. While we take roleplay seriously, remember to enjoy yourself and help others enjoy the game as well.
• Be Patient: New players may make mistakes. Be patient and helpful rather than immediately reporting minor issues.
• Contribute Positively: Contribute to the game's story, help build the world, and create engaging roleplay for everyone. Those who contribute positively are likely to be rewarded with roleplay points.
• Respect the Community: We are all here to create stories together. Treat the community with respect and kindness.
